Activities covered / Highlights:

  1. Marvel at Borobudur — the world’s largest Buddhist temple, a 9th-century UNESCO World Heritage site with 2,600 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues, best experienced at sunrise
  2. Explore Prambanan — Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex, a towering 10th-century UNESCO site dedicated to the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva), adorned with intricate Ramayana carvings
  3. Ride a Jeep through Mount Merapi’s lava fields — traverse volcanic terrain, visit villages buried by the 2010 eruption, and walk the cold lava flows up close
  4. Visit Pantai Glagah — a wild black-sand beach on the Indian Ocean shoreline, shaped by volcanic activity, with powerful 10-foot waves crashing against erected podiums
  5. Dine in scenic restaurants among rice fields and jungle foothills — don’t be deceived by how simple the food looks; the flavours run deep
  6. Hands-on experience in making Wedang Uwuh, the traditional Javanese hot drink made from ginger, nutmeg leaves, cinnamon, secang wood and others
  7. Taste local Javanese food — Burbursumsum (sweet coconut rice porridge), Nasi Bakar (spiced rice grilled in banana leaf), and freshly grown tropical fruits
